Really cool app

In my eyes the app does exactly what it should. Easy to use, very clear visual layout. Not as sterile as comparable apps, and especially the little gadget with the cute kitty is always lovely to look at. The app really motivates me and gives me completely new insights into nutrition. Big praise to the developer. Please keep it up exactly like this! I can only recommend it to everyone.

Great app for calorie tracking and losing weight.

The app is very clear and simply designed, so you find your way around quickly. The tracking works wonderfully and makes it easy to keep an overview of your daily nutrition. That also makes the app great for losing weight. I especially love the design with the cat — it’s lovingly made and motivates you on top. All in all an easy-to-use and highly recommendable app. 😊

Frequently asked
questions.

How does Kairo track calories?

Take a photo of your meal — Kairo recognizes what's on the plate and has the calories and macronutrients worked out 3 seconds later. That's all you have to do.

Is Kairo available on Android?

No, I only live on the iPhone. Android is on the list, but I'm not promising a date.

How much does Kairo cost?

Kairo offers a weekly and a yearly subscription — the yearly plan comes with a 3-day free trial. You see the current price in the App Store before you buy, and you can cancel anytime in your iOS settings.

Does Kairo work with Apple Health?

Yes. Kairo syncs your nutrition data to Apple Health automatically — so your whole health picture lives in one place.

How many calories do I need per day?

Your daily calorie needs depend on factors like age, gender, weight, height, and activity level. Kairo automatically calculates your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) based on your profile using the scientifically recognized Mifflin-St Jeor equation.

What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?

BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the number of calories your body burns at rest to maintain basic functions. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) includes your BMR plus calories burned through physical activity and digestion. TDEE is the total number of calories you need per day.

What is the Body Map in Kairo?

The Body Map is a unique Kairo feature that shows you at a glance how your nutrition supports different body systems — brain, heart, muscles, bones, digestion, and skin & immune system. It provides personalized insights based on your daily food intake.

What makes Kairo different from other calorie trackers?

Kairo combines AI-powered food scanning with features like Body Map nutrition insights, social group tracking with emoji reactions, streak motivation systems, and beautiful iOS widgets. It focuses on simplicity and design while providing comprehensive nutrition tracking.

What is BMI and how is it calculated?

BMI (Body Mass Index) is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared: BMI = weight / (height in m)². A BMI of 18.5-24.9 is considered normal weight. Note that BMI does not account for muscle mass or body composition.
